How to get an LGV licence
McMillen Driver Trainer can help you start your career as an LGV (Large Goods Vehicle) lorry driver. The steps below break down the process you need to follow in order to get your LGV licence.
Step 1
Step 1 is to obtain a medical examination from your doctor. This can cost anything from £50 to £100. You can obtain a medical (DLM 1) form from McMillen Driver Training. Your doctor will fill this out for you.
Step 2
You have to apply for your provisional licence. To do this, you must send both parts of your old licence along with the medical form that the doctor has filled out for you with the fee of £20, to DVA County Hall, Coleraine, BT51 3TB. Allow 28 days for this to be returned to you.
Step 3
The next thing you will have to do is the DSA modules theory test and the hazard perception test. You will have to pass the 2 modules before you can do any driving. You have to pay £37 to the DVA at the time of booking.
Step 4
You must complete module 2. This is the driver CPC case study. You do not have to pass this before you can start your driver training for your test. You will not be allowed to drive for hire or reward till after you pass modules 2 and 4 of the CPC. This is priced at £23 and must be paid at the time of booking.
Step 5
Only when you have passed the theory and hazard perception tests, contact Jamie 07516991942 to book your 4 days training for you practical driving test.
Step 6
After contacting Jamie, he will make an appointment for you. At this point, you will pay £66 to the DVA for the test.
Step 7
You will need to take module 4. This is done at the test centre and the course lasts for about 4 hours and in this time, you will be trained to meet the standard required to pass this module.
